Description: The fifties, France, there is a war in Indochina. In a family consisting of a father who is a doctor (Gelein), a young mother (Massari) and three teenage sons, everyone seems to be busy with himself. The father has come to terms with his powerlessness in influencing his sons and pays more attention to work and talk about politics. The youngest, Laurent (Ferro), is already fifteen. He is a passionate fan of jazz and, in general, an interesting personality. The older brothers have fun like adults, the younger reaches for them, sometimes becoming the object of their cruel jokes. The mother, having married too young, tries to make up for the lost years and leads a double life. Laurent develops heart problems and travels with his mother to a medical resort. Laurent's difficult relationship with peers, his mother's unsuccessful love interests make their relationship more and more trusting, they understand that no one but them can give them more warmth to each other...
